Cosmetologist John O’Brien is the author of Cosmetologie: The Cosmetological Guide to Health, Beauty and Health, which is currently on sale for £16.99.
The book offers advice on everything from applying for cosmetic jobs to taking your own life.
But after losing his wife to cancer in 2016, he had to take his own life, he said.
He explained how he was inspired to write the book, which has become a global bestseller and helped to highlight the importance of healthcare in this age of austerity.
In it, Mr O’Briens guide outlines a number of health tips for a successful cosmetologist, including:Avoid using products containing alcohol, tobacco and benzodiazepines (such as Xanax)Avoid using certain products to make up the cosmetic makeup of your faceAlways wash your face with soap and waterAlways wash and dry your hands with warm waterApply a moisturiser or cream to your hands and apply a powder to your faceApply a mascara to your lashesApply a sunscreen cream to the faceApply eye makeup to your eyeMakeup is a delicate matter, and so is health.
The advice in the book is very specific, and in some cases it is quite practical.
